LABEL PROFILE - ACE RECORDS

ACE Records were once an all American label when they started in 1955 until re-launching in 1997 with a UK/European base. Fast-forward to 2012 and Ace now leads the charge in re-issue labels globally. The catalogue has a strong underlying sense of nostalgia whilst always remaining relevant in the contemporary musical landscape.

Releases range from titles with key players in the game such as Funkadelic, Etta James, Ike Turner and BB King to adventurous and interesting compilations covering rockabilly, go-go, popcorn, Japanese bossa nova and everything in between, all offered in extremely well designed/packaged material.

Ace Records’ strength certainly lies in their broad music offering and it’s evident that those behind the label are genuine music lovers, happy to play the role of connoisseur when given the chance.

For anyone looking to delve a little deeper into music from yesteryear, Ace is a great starting point and for those looking to reminisce about music from their good old days, the label is a godsend. We at TITLE are proud to stock a label with such history and depth and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

For interesting off the beaten track music try Nippon GirlsJapanese Pop, Beat and Bossa Nova 1966-70 ($25, CD).

For pop/soul we suggest Where the Girls Are Vol 3 ($25, CD).

For the psychedelic rock and roll sounds of the 60s we recommend The Zombies’ Odessey and Oracle ($25, CD).

Thomas Studdy, TITLE Crows Nest.

The Ace catalogue is available in all TITLE stores on both CD and Vinyl.
